DescriptionEntirely from the Höllenbrand cru and from limestone topped by heavy clayey marls, vinified in two stücks and bottled 10 days before I tasted it in early July, the 2022 Gundersheimer Riesling 1G opens with an intense and dense, deep and flinty yet also still reductive bouquet of ripe and lush yellow fruits. Fresh and finessed on the first palate, this is a medium to full-bodied, pure, mineral and tensioned Riesling with fine tannins and an intense, citric-fresh and dramatic finish. It was certainly still nervous so soon after the bottling, but it is doubtlessly an impressive Höllenbrand. 12.3% alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2023. Wine Advocate 94
